GPOYW Shave and Jump Up and Down Edition

Whenever I go through a change in my life, major or minor, I usually cut off my hair or shave my face. I think there’s something really symbolic about starting fresh with a new look and a new attitude. Shaving my head or face always mean I’m ready to start something new.

There’s probably also something really symbolic about putting on a suit and taking pictures of yourself jumping on your bed. If there is, I haven’t figured that part out yet. To me it’s still just fun… and it will be until the the day I die.

I’m so sad this morning… I always looked forward to seeing this guy everyday in my neighborhood. He was one of those people who understood happiness & never underestimated it.

Really proud of some of the stuff in my pilot, really disappointed in a lot of it too. That’s pretty much what it’s going to be for the rest of my life and I’m totally cool with it.

I really think that mine and Del’s friendship is all based on a wrong text message. We didn’t really know each other (even though we lived 50 feet away) for my first year in L.A. Then one night I got a text from him telling me to go to Dave and Michelle’s for Matt Braunger’s birthday party. I wrote back, “Who is Dave and Michelle?”, and then Del gave me the address. I could tell he realized he just texted the wrong Jon in his phone.

I went to that party anyway and it was the shit. It still goes down as one of my wildest nights in Los Angeles. I’m not going to go into detail, but I could/should have been arrested for kidnapping. We have photo evidence.

Anyway, that wrong text planted a seed into a friendship that I cherish dearly. Over this last year Del has become a guy that I really admire. It’s easy to say he has a great attitude, a great spirit, and always up for a party. But underneath that all I see man filled with struggle. The struggle of figuring out how he can get everyone he meets to feel as happy as him. Will he ever reach it? I’m not sure, but the world is better off with him trying.

To all my New York friends, the film I contributed to Our Footloose Remake is making it’s East Coast premiere this Friday!!!

I directed a scene in the film, make a few appearances, and worked on the sound mix. Trust me, it’s a really badass film with some incredible stuff going on. I’d go see it again!!!
