Father’s Day
When my father passed away, people always asked me how I seemed to be taking it so well. Some thought I hadn’t grasped what had happened yet, others thought I was in denial. But it was much simpler than that. I knew my father died knowing that if he needed me, I would drop everything I was doing, get on the first plane I could, and be by his side. I knew I did everything that I could and that he understood how much he meant to me. My entire life my father proved that he would do the same if I was ever in trouble. I think that’s all you can ask for between a father and son. He always knew I loved him and I never once doubted he loved me.
During my senior year of high school, I was in a talent show. During the final question and answer round, I was asked, “If I could have one job, what would it be?” This is how I answered it.
