Finishing Last ep. 1 - Internet Dating

This is my latest show to play at Channel 101. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I had been watching a lot of Louie and it inspired me to do my take on it for twenty somethings. It’s just a show; no gimmicks, no crazy world, just me doing things that I do in real life that hopefully people laugh at. It’s not the usual type of show at Channel 101 but I’m happy it was selected to screen. While it lost out to a show about a talking nipple and a show about a guy who turns into a train, (both shows that were amazing by the way and had me cracking up the entire time) a lot of people came up to me after the screening to tell me that they enjoyed the fact that it was different for Channel 101. A lot of people called it “honest” which is what I set out to do. All those stories and situations are real. As Nate Cornett said, “It’s like Home Improvement, based on the comedy of Jon Hill.” Errrrruugh?

I really have to thank Shane for not only shooting it, but for really condensing all my ideas into a five minute show. Without Shane, this show wouldn’t have been possible. Also like to thank the three lovely ladies who were in it, Jen, Stacy, and Dixie. Thanks to DJ Nice Rec for providing the music. Thanks to Aaron and Austin for lending a hand with production. Thanks to Erika for listening to me complain about my dating life long enough that I finally made a show about it. And last but not least, thanks to Dave Seger for responding with a “OH HELL YEAH!” email after seeing a cut. After being up 24 hours editing, that email made me feel like it was all worth it.

Career wise, this is the type of show I’d love to make. If I could make my living making comedies with a hint of heart, I’d die a happy man. So if you know of anyone throwing money at webseries or with development deals and you think they’d like this, send them my way. I’d love to make more of these.

Fuck it, I’m going to make more of these anyway.
