Yesterday - The Beatles
A new friend asked what song I would want to listen to if I knew I was going to die tomorrow. My gut instantly went with “Yesterday” by The Beatles. While I might consider picking a more upbeat song for my end, I will say this is probably what I consider the prettiest song ever. I’m a sucker for a string quartet.
The irony in me loving this song is that I don’t really know all of the lyrics. To be honest, I don’t think I know all of the lyrics to any song other than Happy Birthday. So when my new friend and I started to sing it, I had to basically hum along and fill in whenever the word yesterday came around. Some older man walking next to us enjoyed our rendition and said, “Hey, as long as you’re singing together, it’s alright.” We agreed. Thank you sir.
Fun Fact: “Yesterday” bumped off “Hang On Sloopy” by The McCoys from the Billboard #1 spot, which was posted by my buddy Mike a few weeks ago. Thank you wikipedia.
